FOSV: A manual valve usually installed on DP after a kick occurs when the kelly is not in use. It usually contains a movable ball and when in one position allows flow through a hole in the ball, but after turning 90°, shuts off flow completely. Rotating the ball is performed with a wrench (see the L-bar on the left picture) kept on the rig floor & accessible to the rig crew. This has the advantage that wireline tools can be passed through them.
